The Economy: The head of the country has attacked business and promised the redistribution of wealth since he started his campaign. The Democrat-controlled Congress supported his efforts by enacting legislation guaranteed to cause inflation. Inflation is a tax, a very big silent tax. What businessman or investor wants to take risks in that environment?
The Deal: I have been attending Tea Party meetings and do networking on an international scale. People here and abroad observe the similarity between the Democrats and Republicans and remark on the duplicity of one and the weakness of the other as their only distinguishing characteristics. Now, when the Republicans could have finally differentiated themselves and left the Debt Ceiling a ceiling, they folded. Business people know there is no ceiling and that future cuts are a fantasy. I guess we aren't a big voting block but don't expect businesses to expand or the stock market to go up. At some point uncertainty turns to fear.
