School Loans Largely Wasted

I read an article in our local paper on the importance of school loans. School loans are, like so many things today, inappropriate to criticize. I have to tell you that I am only interested in my tax dollars being spent on education that will help the country - the U.S. can absorb only so many thousands of Communications Majors.

There is a huge disconnect in this country that fails to encourage the best and the brightest to study science, engineeing, and medicine. I can't find enough experienced local engineers to help me with my work so I go to Bradley for new graduates and the first thing I have to do is help them stay in the country. Even the graduates in our own backyard aren't local.

Forget what you hear about cheap labor. The fact is that if it wasn't for India, there is a lot of engineering that just wouldn't get done. It shouldn't be that way. Where is the ambition and drive this country once had? I don't know how to fix it but I know I don't want to fund any life-time students studying subjects with which they can never hope to make a living.
